We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Payments Officer to join our company licensed by the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA). The role is focused on ensuring the smooth execution of daily payment operations, managing fiat and cryptocurrency transaction flows, and supporting the efficiency and reliability of the company’s payments infrastructure.
The Payments Officer, reporting to the Operations Manager, will be responsible for processing transactions, maintaining relationships with banking partners and Payment Service Providers (PSPs), performing reconciliations, and resolving payment-related issues in a timely and accurate manner.
Key Responsibilities
Payment Operations
- Monitor and process daily customer fiat andcryptocurrency withdrawals and deposits accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure timely execution of payment flows acrossbanking partners, PSPs, and blockchain networks.
- Manage the setup and maintenance of banking andpayment details across internal systems and platforms.
Reconciliation & Controls
- Perform regular payment and account reconciliations to ensure alltransactions are accurately recorded and aligned with internal records.
- Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, failed transactions, andsettlement issues in a timely manner.
- Support internal controls by ensuring proper documentation and audit trailsfor all payment activities
Banking & PSP Management
- Act as a primary point of contact for the company’s banking partners andPayment Service Providers (PSPs).
- Build and maintain strong relationships with PSPs, proactively following upon operational issues and service improvements.
- Support the integration and onboarding of new banking partners and PSPs where required.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Liaise with the Trading Department to coordinate settlements to and fromLiquidity Providers before and after trade execution.
- Collaborate with Compliance and Finance teams on transaction-related queries, reporting, and operational requirements.
Process Improvement
- Assist in the development, documentation, and continuous improvement of payment and operational procedures.
- Participate in initiatives aimed at enhancing payment efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
- Stay updated on relevant industry trends, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies within payments and digital assets.
Requirements: Qualifications & Skills
- 1–3 years of experience in payments, operations, or a similar role, ideally within fintech, financial services, gaming, or cryptocurrency environments.
- Strong understanding of payment processing systems, PSPs, banking operations, and reconciliation processes.
• Basic understanding of cryptocurrency is advantageous, with willingness to develop deeper knowledge on the job. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple workflows and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Proficiency in operational tools and systems used for payments andreconciliation.
